Museum on the Main Level

On the first floor, an emerging museum space interprets the life, work, and legacy of Zora Neale Hurston and the broader story of Black heritage in Florida. Exhibits, archival imagery, and interpretive text invite you to explore at your own pace.

Zora’s Library

A curated collection of Hurston’s work, Harlem Renaissance classics, and contemporary Black authors is available for guests. Settle into a quiet corner, open a book, and let the language of the South and the Harlem Renaissance surround you.

What to Know Before You Book

Guest suites are located on the second floor and are accessible by stairs only (no elevator). A $25 housekeeping cleaning fee is applied per stay. Additional details and house policies are shared at the time of reservation.

Room by room, the house has been restored with an eye toward authenticity and intention. Original character is preserved wherever possible, while thoughtful updates make the space welcoming for today’s travelers, scholars, and community members. The result is neither a traditional museum nor a typical vacation rental—it is something in between, a place where you can feel history breathing around you.
